FEATHERED FRIENDS

"A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are signing, and the lawn mower is broken."
~James Dent

Yesterday was just such a day. I would call it a soft day. The sun was shining softly, the breeze was blowing softly, the birds were singing softly and the only other sound was the soft lapping of the water. I couldn't have ordered a more perfect day. We've had a week or so of these days, which makes me fearful of what may lay ahead. This kind of perfection certainly can't last.

Two white crowned sparrows at my neighbors feeder

Aren't they pretty?

  1. It does sound perfect. A good day for lying in a hammock and reading. I'm sorry it makes you fearful, but I suppose that's the way of weather. If it didn't vary, it wouldn't be weather.

  3. Very pretty. And the feeder is simple but practical. Did you make it yourself? I may have to give it a try.

  4. The feeder is so clever and I would love to have one but I had to give up feeding birds. It seems that straw itch mites, which are often found in the seeds, love me but I don't love them.
