AFTERNOON REPAST

“As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy and to make plans.”  ~Ernest Hemingway, A Moveable Feast

One of our favorite things to do is to make our way to the beach around 4 p.m. and go to one of the local restaurant, "Crabs--We Got Em," where we enjoy cold beer and oysters-on-the-half-shell. The restaurant is obviously famous for their crab dishes, but it's their oysters that draw us to the beach bar.

This is the large crab that greets diners at "Crabs--We've Got Em"

  1. You got some great shots of this place....looks like a place we would love to go to. The oysters look so fresh....nice! ( This is how I got my camera stolen, after taking some photos of the food, I left it on the table after we ate and left...returned 5 mins later and it was gone! )

  2. Do you have winter and summer oysters? Over here, the winter oysters are the best because they aren't milky. It is said to only eat oysters in months with an "r", with a preference for November through March. I love crab! This place looks like it would be nothing less than an irresistible magnet for me! Very nice shots and of course, the aftermath is brilliant too!

  3. Oh dear. . . I'd have a problem. I rarely eat things that come from the sea.

  4. Oh dear Vivian. Losing my camera would be like losing a limb. I don't understand how someone can do such a thing.
